Officially formed in 1976, U2 is an Irish band with members including Paul Hewson (Bono), David Evans (The Edge), Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen, Jr.
U2’s first three albums, “Boy”, “War” and “October” was very successful in the United Kingdom but only the album “Pride (In the Name of Love)” made it to the US Top 40. Their album “The Joshua Tree” earned them a Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1987. It also contained the single “With or Without You”, which reached #1 in the US singles chart.
The 4th rock band to be featured on TIME Magazine’s cover, U2 is considered to be one of the world’s greatest rock bands. The top albums of the very popular Irish band include “The Joshua Tree” (sold 10 million copies), “Achtung, Baby” (sold 8 million copies), “Rattle and Hum” (sold 5 million copies), “All That You Can’t Leave Behind” (sold 4 million copies) and “War” (sold 4 million copies).
